AI assistance
Some of the work here was produced with help from AI tools. Rather than bury that in a disclaimer, this page collects every such piece in one place and says what the tools actually did.

What the tools are used for
Finding sources and prior literature, checking arithmetic and units in the data I cite, summarising long documents that I then read myself, testing an argument by asking for the strongest objection to it, and line editing for clarity once a draft is finished.
What they are not used for
The thesis of a piece, the choice of evidence, and the judgement about what follows from it are mine. I do not publish text I have not rewritten, and I do not cite a source I have not opened.
Verification
Every factual claim and every citation that originated with a tool is checked against the primary source before publication. Anything I could not verify is either cut or marked in the text as unverified.
Why disclose at all
Because a reader weighing an argument is entitled to know how it was made. The disclosure costs me nothing if the work is sound, and if it is not sound then the reader deserves the warning.
Responsibility does not transfer. Where a tool helped, the argument, the evidence and any error remain mine, and the piece is signed accordingly. This page is linked from the ethics page and from every piece it covers.

- The Legalities of Creating Your Own Country13 September 2026
- Research assistance from an AI model was used to locate case law, treaty provisions and contemporary reporting, and to check the recognition counts cited throughout. Every source in the bibliography was read in the original before being relied upon, and the argument, the structure, the selection of cases and the conclusions are the author's own.
- Ways to Make Money on the Web, Ranked by Whether They Actually Pay20 August 2026
- Researched with the help of AI tools, which were used to gather 2026 platform data and industry reporting on rates, payout distributions and platform policy changes, and to assemble the comparison tables. The ranking criterion, the argument about the certainty and ceiling trade-off, and the judgement about what to exclude are the author's own. Figures were checked against their sources before publication.
