Shortlisted, John Locke Institute Essay Competition 2026
Shortlisted in the Economics category, answering the question "Should we fear a cashless society?". The competition is open to students worldwide and draws entries in the thousands, so a place on the shortlist puts an essay in a small fraction of a very large field. Virtual Work Experience Programme
A sustained programme rather than a short simulation: four hours of scheduled sessions each week, additional team work between them, and a graded final presentation. The syllabus ran from the product development lifecycle and design thinking through valuation, equity research, projected statements, unlevered free cash flow, WACC and sensitivity analysis, and closed with a mock allocation of one million dollars pitched to Stripe as a formal investment deck backed by a spreadsheet model. Graded across four components against an international cohort: 84.6 overall against a cohort mean of 80.62, with 95 in design and development and 89 in the careers toolkit.
